Five Things About Me

Just So You Know

Here's a few tidbits that will give you another glimpse into what makes me, me.

We have a few flower beds. They're not perfectly manicured, they usually have weeds, but they're still pretty.  I like day lilies because they are lo maintenance and not real temperamental.

I mean really, who can argue with this?

I like to read and don't make enough time for it. Right now I am reading The Gerbil Farmer's Daughter, which is a true story, not what I expected, and quite funny. Laugh out loud funny.

I think I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I'm a M*A*S*H freak. We watch it just about every night, multiple episodes. Hawkeye Pierce is my 'list'. You know the list you have that states, if these guys come to my door, I'm letting them in. And yes, I know he's not real. I'd let Alan Alda in too.Don't worry, Gar knows and he loves him as much as I do. Perhaps not quite the same way, but loves him none the less. "When people are laughing, they're generally not killing one another. ” ― Alan Alda......just one of the reasons I love him.  Gar got me tickets to see him in Portsmouth a couple years ago when Mr. Alda was speaking on a book tour. He was exactly what I expected, charming, funny, handsome, smarmy, intelligent. Did I say I love that man? If you haven't read is book, Never Have Your Dog Stuffed, we both highly recommend it.

I just bit the bullet and finally got a real cell phone. All I'd had until now was the occasional trac phone. I know, pretty sad for a communications professional, but I am an old fashioned girl to some extent. However, I am now firmly entrenched in this century with my new Samsung Droid Charge smartphone. Pretty cool.
Please note, I'm not smart enough to have figured everything out yet.

I've probably said this too, in fact just this week I think. Lilacs are my favorite flower. The lilacs on our property are one of the reasons we bought this house. Some of ours are HUGE. Taller than our house.

The barn is our next door neighbors. Nice view, huh? The honeysuckle is pretty too. But oh, the lilacs....................

Enough about me..............what about you?

Sun is shining, windy though so that is keeping it coolish.  I've a mad day at my desk but I will get out to the field again at the end of the day for sure. I'll need that breath of fresh air and brain-recharge, no doubt.

Make it a great one,

  1. I wish we were neighbors. You sound a lot like me (except for the Alan Alda part. Alan Alda, really?? I lean more toward Clint Eastwood.)

    1. LOL. I like clint too. In fact, I like him more now, than his earlier stuff. He's a fantastic director. Should have won the oscar for million dollar baby. Such a great performance.

Yes, alan alda. Really. OK, more hawkeye.....smarmy with a touch of swagger........I can't resist. That's why I married gar. ;)

  2. Your flowers are beautiful, and it must be really nice to have them around your house. Welcome to the world of smart phones, I hate how much I use mine but it has become an important part of my business. You will appreciate it very soon. Nice to get to know you!

    1. Oh how I wish the lilacs lasted longer. I am very glad though, that they are right outside my bedroom window and they waft in every morning when they're out. I also fill every vase I have. It's a lilac fest. I'll post pics in a month and a half. The phone has already been a bonus at meetings, I was able to get some prices online while I was meeting with customer. So cool valerie!

  3. Ok, the MASH thing is so funny. I totally make fun of my husband because he is obsessed. He thinks it is the funniest show ever. I don't really get it but it makes me love him even more. Gotta love a good sense of humor:)

    1. It is the funniest show ever. Well, that and the honeymooners and all in the family and mary tyler moore kills me too.

But the thing about mash is that it's funny one second, and then it smacks you like a brick the next with the reality of war.

ridiculous writing, acting and directing..........tell your husband, he is not alone.

  4. We watch M.A.S.H. every night too! In fact I just told my hubby to DVR it because we will be at Holy Week services tonight! I don't think I appreciated it as much when I was younger. But we do love it now. I love Alan Alda's laugh, it's contagious!
Love your flowers too.... can't wait for them here.

    1. so, on top of the smartphone, are you now telling me I need a dvr? LOl!!!!!!!!!! I love it.

His laugh IS contagious. And I love when loretta switt lets one loose. Kills me.

Like many movies we watch, we could do our own performance of nearly every episode of mash, playing all the parts, without a script.

I really loved this time of year when we used to go to the Friary in rye. It's not there anymore. It was the most wonderful place for services. Relaxed and welcoming, it exuded love. Many years later, and I still miss it.

  7. The lilacs are just gorgeous! I don't think they grow in San Diego...but gardenias do, which made a friend in Ohio very envious. Looking forward to those coming back! I'm going to have to find that book. I just started The Hunger Games for my book club, but I have a feeling I'm going to need some comic relief after that. And congrats on your smart phone! I have the dumbest one ever...I'm too embarrassed to tell my co-workers that I don't have one (we're a high-tech company...shhh!!!)

  8. all looking beautiful in your part of the world Pam - I'm just popping in to say I've linked to your shop on my 'Fabulous Friday Feeling' post which will go live at midnight Central European Time - forgive me, I haven't found the right frame for it so it is rather nakedly standing on my little desk at the moment....but it just looks 'right' so I have kept it there for the time being.
Have a peaceful Easter weekend - Cari

  9. Oh, lilacs and honeysuckle, two of God's greatest creations! :) I love walking in the spring and smelling all of the wonderful and natural aromas... heavenly. I'm also a fan of day lilies ~ so little work involved, plus they're gorgeous! I love, LOVE to read and have been making as much time for it lately as I can. For awhile I wasn't fitting it in anywhere and it made me sad. :( Right now I'm reading The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs. It is fantastic, his humor cracks me up almost every page! He has other books... I think I'll be ordering one... or two once I'm done with this one! :) Liked this post, I'm always rabid for the little details that make a person unique.:)
