Spring In Our Step
Hey you guys....Happy Monday!
I have to say, waking up to a bit of sunshine today was quite welcome here. It's not meant to last so Lucan and I took to the yard for a walk about. Despite the generally non-cooperative spring weather so far, things are doing their best to pop.
All sorts of tree buds....
.....including the forsythia!
Hello Gorgeous! (didn't need to make one single adjustment to this beauty).
In the woods, the ferns are unfurling and the evergreen remains, green.
And in the yard...........flowers, both gone-by and awakening.
Sunset Meadows
The weekend had a rather interesting end, gray clouds mixed with a bit of sun giving it its best shot.
I hope you all had a great weekend. I did a pretty good job staying away
from the computer (other than spending time deleting a gazillion emails
that were slowing my system down....more to do on that front for sure). It
wasn't very nice weather wise so we kind of just hunkered down for the
count. Then Sunday, Gar woke up with a cold. So I went into a cleaning
frenzy while he watched soccer on the tube. Then I said, 'that's it. I'm
quitting' and played around with watercolors for a couple of hours. I was finally about to
sit and watch some TV around 8, when our cable went out. Talk about
timing. Oh well, I went back to sketching and painting. Why fight it?
In other news: I beat G in a game of Yahtzee, made a delicious white sauce veggie lasagna, had some nice toast for saturday brekkie topped with the apple jelly my nephew made and was kind enough to share from his pantry, visited with the neighbors, enjoyed a little bit of youtube singing and dancing, oh............and watched my Bruins beat Detroit to take their first series on the way to the Stanley Cup. What did you do?
Make it one awesomely spectacular week and I'll do my best to do the same!
Ciao for now,
Ooh, the photos are gorgeous! I love the one with the unfurling fern and the next one, the tree photo with the pretty bokeh in the background! Just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteVeggie lasagna - yum :)
Duni, we're very lucky to have a bit of a woods right behind our house. Our neighbor to the west owns the land, which is considered wetlands and can't be built on (yay!). There is always something to discover just past our stone wall. The lasagna was perfect for Sat night as it was quite raw here and nice to have the oven on.
DeleteBeautiful photos! Is that little green plant an unfurling fern? I've never seen one before. I love the light in all of these. They really carry the essence of Spring. x
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie, thanks for stopping by. It IS unfurling fern, isn't it great? I'm surprised you never saw them in NY? People actually cook and eat the unfurling tops of fiddlehead ferns. Go figure! lovely tour of london today, thanks for all the flowers
Deletehow lucky you are to have a dog that would let you take such amazing pictures while on a walk. my peewee would be yipping and yapping and pulling on the lead. lol

Hey there Debbi, well, we were really only in the yard and just behind it in the woods today. normally he pulls me, just right when i'm about to snap a shot. today he was just tagging along behind me.
DeleteLove that second las. Shot- heavy sky
ReplyDeleteit was weird, had pretty much been cloudy with rainy spots all day. then at the end of the day the sun was giving it a go and out it popped just through that hole in the clouds.
DeleteI love how everything is growing and blooming. And thanks for sharing those sunset pics, I never get to see those over here. And I would love to hear and see more on that lasagna!
ReplyDeleteOh the lasagna was a quick and easy 'semi-homemade' as I was buy watching my hockey team in the playoffs. So I went the easy route, but I can share the basic recipe for sure! More to come. I'd be lost without our sunset views. That wasn't even a good one, just kind of funky. We are blessed with a view of 'sunset meadows'.
DeleteWow, you guys have a lot of stuff growing up there! Our daffodils have sprouted, but they won't be blooming until they get a little taller. And now that I'm looking out the window I can see that our trees are budding! Finally.
ReplyDeleteI think those daffs popped out an faded from another cold snap in matter of a couple of days. Spring has been a longtime coming my fellow northerner. a long. time. coming. (still!)
DeleteI love to see how nature wakes up again after winter :-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it something. And that's just what it's like.........everything waking up. The ferns are like rising from your bed in the morning and wiping the sleep from your eyes.
DeleteYay for the greening and flowering of the world!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous sky!
Hi Margaret, it is SO nice to see some spring green popping up! That was actually a pretty gray sky with just a pop of sun at the end of the day. Sunset meadows rarely disappoints us.
DeleteAww..your photos just made me so happy. I love when trees start to bloom. Also, your white sauce veggie lasagne sounds scrumptious:) Have a beautiful day, lovely and talk to you soon. xoxo
