Creating In New Ways

Watercolors

I've felt a need to create away from the computer lately. It's easy to get burnt out. Especially when you're 'creating' for a living and there are demands and deadlines on a daily basis. Newsflash: and so business ownership all the world over.

I've had some watercolors my mom gave me that I started playing around with. I've used them here and there before, but this time I am really loving it and want to continue.

Currently, I am Level Rudimentary. Really basic.  That said, I can still import them into my programs and fiddle with them which is a new way to create on the computer and another way to add variety to what I do and what I offer.

So far, lots of doodling as I mentioned in yesterday's post.

I painted this for my sister on Easter, since she's the holiday hostess.

These, I watercolor doodled yesterday  morning. A new way to start my day to get the creative juices flowing.

Here's the thing, they can certainly be better. Way better. However, I am having fun playing with it and I'm not going to get any better without practice.

This one may be worked into a client revisions I'm working on currently, we will see.

Now I just need to order some real, honest to goodness, watercolor paper. It's on the list.

I used one of the garland wreaths I painted to create a new logo in the shop.

That's what's been happening in my creative world, what's happening in yours?

Ciao for now,

    1. I have always enjoyed doodling, fun to do it in a different medium. I hear you on the garden front. If weather holds out there will be more raking. I'll probably be saying that for at least a month!

  2. The new logo turned out SOOO nice! I love it! I'm struggling with arranging a calligraphy workshop so it's half a lots-to-dos and creative ideas for the practice of the ladies attending. So I can say I'm in a fully creative mood these days and this makes me feel so good and happy! I'm sure the watercolor paper will make your days ;-) I've got some small A5 Windsor & Newton Cotman which I love because I can turn the sheet around as it's not so big. I'm curious which one you will find/chose.
Do you know elviestudio.blogspot.com? If not check it out for watercolor illustrations and lettering!

  4. I like your wreath design, I like the idea of including them in your logo design. I think it makes them extra special because the watercolouring was done by hand, and I like combining different techniques. I've made some bracelets on monday, and I've had lots of plans and ideas, the problem is that I don't seem to have enough time :-)

  5. I really like the leaf garland painting/illustrations. Beautiful. Glad you have found some creative inspiration. I can imagine it is hard to say switched on creatively all the time and you would need a re-charge.

  8. Beautiful work! I love watercolors. So soothing. My watercolors have sold really quickly through Etsy but they take so much more time. Haven't done one in awhile, but I'm missing it!

    1. Dear I.B., I had no idea that you painted watercolors being the linocut master that you are. I checked out the ones you've sold and they are AMAZING!
