Please Mr. Postman

Remnants of the Party

In my clean up after the last Gotta Have It/Gotta Blog It party,  I found may way over to Lynette's shop, Sweet Posy Dreams and a vintage book with pretty artwork.

I just loved everything about the cover artwork, so much so that I bought it.

What can I say? It was calling my name.

One thing I love about buying from etsy shop owners is that, more often than not, when your postman or woman delivers your package it's like getting a gift in the mail.

Oak leaves and acorns.

A pretty scroll background for the title.

Part of the charm is that this book is from 1900 and it makes me think about what method they used to create the artwork and print the book.

I think it's quite timeless and lovely.

I've used leaves and scroll work in my designs (even in something I'm working on right now) and it's kind of fun to think that artists 100 years ago were creating works with the same classic elements.

Thanks Lynette....I love it!

Seize the day....it's the only one you've got.

Ciao for now,

  1. You're welcome, Pam, thank you! So glad the book arrived safe and sound and that you are pleased. I believe that was Westcott's only novel. He wrote it while recovering from TB. (The things you can learn from Wikipedia!)

  2. You are right the artwork on the cover is pretty amazing. Now you have me wondering about their process for printing the book art in 1900. Enjoy your new book!

  5. I have a weakness for awesome vintage books too. Especially vintage Bibles and vintage music books. There is just something so personal about them.

I often see store journals/logs in antique stores and just love the simple recording of daily lives that it represents.
