Toll House Cookie Heaven

Blame It On Mom

My mother made us all chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies for Christmas. They were so good they were gone lickity split.  I for one, love a Toll House Cookie. Is there anyone out there who doesn't? I won't hold it against you, I'm just wondering aloud if it's possible not to love a chocolate chip cookie.

Being that I do love 'em, and being that they were gone lickity split, and being they were on my mind when I recently bought a ginormous bag of Nestle Semi Sweet chocolate chips at Sam's Club due to the aforementioned Toll House Cookies teaser of Mom's, Saturday seemed like a perfect day to make a batch.

I used the original Nestle ® Toll House ®  cookie recipe. It may or may not be a little different from the 'original original' toll house cookie recipe by Ruth Wakefield who created the cookie at her Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts in 1930.

Either way, they're good.

There's a reason why they're gone so fast.

  1. I love, love, love a good chocolate chip cookie. I use the recipe from the Hershey's Dark chip bag, personally. I definitely prefer dark chocolate chips in mine. And I use a technique that I found on Chow, that makes them absolutely perfect every time.

    1. that sounds DIVINE! I may need that recipe. Dark chocolate is my fave, but not sure I ever had a dark chocolate chip cookie and that's just not right.

    1. I admit it Lynette. I had to take a cookie break. Thankfully, I was smart enough to give some away to the neighbors since I made three different kinds this weekend.

    1. I can't say I've found one better than that yet Ashley. It's what my Mom always made. I will say this though, my friend just commented on facebook that she doubles the chips and I just might have to try that.

  4. Oh, I love chocolate chip cookies - especially when they're soft, so I don't bake mine quite as long. But I love the dough even more! For crazy good cookie dough recipes check out the Cookie Dough Lovers Cookbook -http://www.amazon.com/Cookie-Dough-Lovers-Cookbook-Cookies/dp/1594745641. I can highly recommend the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles.

  5. I just happen to be eating one from this very recipe, RIGHT NOW! I made the toll house recipe yesterday, because a friend asked me to bring cookies to a gathering! I haven't made them in, probably a year! What a co-incidence! :)
