Around The Estate

The Back 40

We jokingly call our place The Bates Estate. Not sure our little cottage could ever qualify as an estate.  In fact, when we first moved in our house was so small, our garden was bigger than it.  We have since added on giving us just enough room, well at least enough room for me to walk around the bed without turning sideways.  When the warm weather hits, we spend a lot of time outside. We often end the day with a stroll around the yard, as we did yesterday.

It's Spring.

The apple blossoms are popping.

The the deer have been 'trampaging' (that's sister Di's word combo.... trampling and rampaging) the veg garden and my flower garden.

It was like they'd had an open house. Even chomped my Admiral Nelson lilies. Personally, I think the chipmunk mounds I'm dealing with were enough.

We sat out on the back stoop last night listening to the birds and watching the sunset which was reflecting more to the East last night.

Sunset Meadows

Pretty pink against the blue sky, and the Pamela Jean sailing in the wind.

Soon the bluebirds will be perching on the mast while I swim about the pool. Not soon enough, but soon.

Have a lovely Monday. It's supposed to hit the mid 80s today and I'm loving being in my flip flops.

Peace out,

    1. I have to say Lynette, though there are a LOT of deer in our neighborhood, we've never really had garden problems. we'll just have to wait and see if they continue to trampaging and keep our fingers crossed.

  2. deer are so pretty-but they can be pests! I know people who put cayenne powder on their shrubs/bushes/etc. to keep em away. I love the last picture!

    1. well, you know Kath, once you get through the gate, we're pretty low key. ;) I am making progress in the flower garden to the west, but still have to finish that, move around the stone wall, hit the flower garden at the pool and then the east side flower garden. yes my dear, lots to do!

  4. Oh yeah. We had crazy deer when I lived in Buena Vista. One time they wouldn't even let me in my own house!! I had to sneak around back and crawl in a window because they would move and were giving me the evil eye. Ever since then I have had a little grudge:)

    1. Traci that is too damn funny. Can't believe they wouldn't let you in the back. The rest of the story reminds me of New Year's eve with my parents (cross my heart....i was WITH my parents!).

  5. It's still freezing over here. Cold and rainy.
The deer that stomp all over your garden don't seem shy at all!!
Here they hide in the woods.
Have a great rest of the week!
