Summer Friday Finds

As a shop owner on etsy (check out Bates Mercantile Co.!), I'm supposed to be thinking ahead, and planning for seasons that aren't quite here yet.  That's all well and good when it's comes to planning merchandise and marketing, but for me, it's still summer. We're in the thick of things and I am not even close to ready to think about autumn. I'm loving summer too much.

Here's a few summer reminders- in turquoise- from fellow esty shops.

How about an igloo, to keep you cool?

Our ash trees have been suffering this summer. Leaves dropping and generally, not looking good at all. Nobody seems to know why. I think it's weather related, too much water from snow and rain and then, not enough due to the hot summer sun.  This ash leaf imprint dish is a good reminder of how nice they usually are. This is one pretty dish.

Ah, to be in a boat on the water. 'Lazy Days of Summer'.

Enjoy summer while it's here. Carpe Diem.

The Rewards of Summer

Our friend Ralph is a fisherman. Been a fisherman since we were in high school. He's also a Captain.  So, appropriately, we call him Cap'. Lucky for us, Cap' landed his first tuna of the season.

Talk about fresh fish.

The mosquitoes were awful last night, so we decided to coat the tuna steaks in sesame and saute instead of fighting the nasty buggers out at the grill.

I have to say..............

........this tasted way better than this photo came out. Divine.

Sunset Meadows

A subtle, summer sunset.

Any plans for the weekend? We have family from Dublin arriving for a quick visit. YAY. And Cap' Ralph and his wife Cathryn are having their annual lobsta' bake, this year in celebration of their son Matthew's high school graduation. He enters the Army in January. Congrats Matthews, but for now, let's just enjoy some lobster tomorrow!

Make it a great weekend wherever you are.

  1. Cool to see my painting here- thanks for posting it! Amy Schrom~

  2. Amy, your work is gorgeous. Love the one of the girl going into the water with the boogie board. Reminds me of me when I was little. We were beach bums......only lived a mile from beach. Of course, our 'boogie' boards were really lame foam then! Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Wow, thanks so much for featuring me on your beautiful blog! Love it! Ericka
