Wrap It Up: Easter Weekend

A Quick Glimpse

What a great weekend. Never long enough though, are they? It was however, jam packed to perfection.

Ready?

I listed a new OOAK Premade logo, loving hands, in the shop on Friday.

We had a sunset ride through Exeter, the next town over, on our way to our friends', Ralph and Cathryn, house for dinner Friday night.

Ralphie made us delicious baked fresh haddock he caught that day, and he and Cathryn sent us home with leftovers and fresh haddock fillets. Yes please, and thank you.

We spent time out in the sunshine on Saturday, starting spring clean up which involves an unbelievable amount of raking. More to come at the end of today...an so on and so on and so on. The before looks so sad, I will be happy when I can show you the after, but it will be awhile. G said to me, 'this will take us a good week of nonstop work just to get the yard raked'. I said, 'I know, let's not talk about it, let's just do. It will be less painful'.

I was going to go for a walk at the beach yesterday morning, but I felt like doing a little creating away from my desk. So instead, I sat out back in the sunshine and did a little sketching and watercolor doodling.

We enjoyed a very bountiful Easter dinner at sister Di and brother in law Al's followed closely by the Egg Hunt.

It was so nice to have some time away from the computer to recharge. A full week would be super special, but for now, I'll take what I can get. It's been a long time since I stayed away from the computer and work the entire weekend. Can you say 'aaaaahhhhh'?

How was your weekend? Was it relaxing? Was it go go go busy? Was it filled to the brim with friends, family and food?

The sun is shining today on this Patriots' Day/ Marathon Monday. I hope and pray for an uneventful race for all those running and watching from the sidelines in Boston today. There are so many people running to raise money for various causes, and so many running in memory of those we lost last year as well as the survivors. I wish them the strength to finish strong!

Make it a great day, it's a great day to have.

Ciao for now,

Freeform Friday

Few Words

Wishing you a peaceful Easter weekend.

I apologize ahead of time that this video is sideways. I filmed it on a Sunday morning when we visited Rome. I have no idea how to fix it. I thought you'd enjoy the bells of Rome regardless............ just lovely.

Here's a better look at our view.

Some things I'm looking forward to this holiday weekend.

- getting out in nature where I feel closest to God
- taking two days off and enjoying some downtime away from the computer
- seeing old friends
- spending Easter with family
- skyping with our Irish family
- the Easter feast at my brother in law Al and sister Di's house which includes: a beautiful baked ham with pineapple sauce, a smoked turkey, asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, cheesy broccoli casserole, green bean casserole, tourtierre, sweet and sour cabbage, salad, rolls, fruit compote, brownies....the list goes on and on and on. Nothing like homemade food to say LOVE.
- Easter eggs
- The Egg Hunt
- jelly beans
- malted milk eggs
- being in the moment and thankful for all of my blessings

A few Easter throwback posts:

However you'll be spending the weekend, I hope you truly enjoy it.

Take A Walk With Us: Good Friday

No Need For Words

I think Pavarotti had a voice that was the gift of God. Especially appropriate for this Easter weekend.  Enjoy. Click here if you're reading via email.

I'm don't consider myself an especially religious person, per se. I'm more spirtual than religious.  I did go to a Catholic college and I do pray, but churches speak more to me when they are empty, than when they are full.  I feel closest to God when I am enjoying the beauty of nature and contemplating how blessed I am.

Wishing you a wonderful Easter and Passover in the company of family and friends.

Ciao for now,

Easter Monday

Easter at Di & Al's

Great day yesterday, hope yours was too. The hound and I took a very peaceful walk at the Phillips Exeter trails in the morning (more on that tomorrow).  Then midday, Gar and headed over to Di and Al's for the annual Easter celebration.

Memere and Sylivie came down from Canada (4 hours), and the Robinson gang from Jefferson (3 hours), nephew Joe home from college (2 hours) and all of us local yokels made for a full house.

The weather didn't quite cooperate, but there wasn't any rain. It was a bit chilly though.  It didn't stop the kids from playing outside and Garrett teaching Cayden a new football touchdown dance. Nephew Pat pulled his niece Sophia around and around and around in the wagon. She went in circles most of the day. (Funny, how most of my nephews on this side of the Atlantic are now Uncles.)

A good day had by one and all....

My poor parents were taunted and taunted by the Red Sox, who ended up blowing it in the 11th. Ah well, at least it's only the beginning of the season. Our Yankees didn't fare much better.

As Gar and I drove home, I said 'Look at the pretty glow of the sunset.' It was a very muted yellow. That didn't last long.

Sunset Meadows

It was quite a long sunset last night, and it was the first time the sun had really shown its face all day. It was worth the wait. The two of us were on the couch and I said to Gar, looking at the color streaming in from the window, 'Did that sunset just completely change?'. He stretched his neck to look and said, WOW! Out I went with the camera again.  Wish you'd all been able to see this one. Truly spectacular.

Mellow yellow..............

Sun going down.............

All of a sudden, sky on fire.........

I stood there in awe, snapping away...........

This one reminds me of the scene with Scarlett in Gone With the Wind...."As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again."

What an beautiful end to Easter. Quite a show.

Peace out,

Sunset Meadows & Freeform Friday

Sunset Meadows

The sunset was so pretty last night. Beautiful from start to finish. I thought it would be an appropriate way to finish off the week.

Happy Friday.

We are so very lucky to have that view right outside our door. A little bit of heaven.

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate Easter. We will be spending Easter Sunday at sister Di's and enjoying the bounty of food that everyone brings to share.  Baked ham, smoked turkey, tourtierre, sweet and sour cabbage, brocolli casserole, squash, aspargus, mashed potatoes, fruit compote and more (really?).  The kids will have their annual egg hunt which I love watching and I will most definitely enjoy an easter egg or two.  I'd also like to get out in nature this weekend, perhaps a field walk or too, to relish in the beauty of nature, God's own personal work of art.

What are your plans for this special weekend?

Wishing you a very blessed and peaceful Easter weekend.

Freeform Friday

I watched Jerry Maguire last night. Love that movie. It's about the things that really matter. Don't blink, or you'll miss the wise words of Dicky Fox from the movie.........click here if you are reading this by email.

And what can I say about Luciano. A gift from God and perfect for Easter weekend.  Click here if you're reading by email.

Peace,
