Take A Walk With Us: After The Storm

Sunset Meadows

Winter keeps rolling on and so do the storms. This past Thursday a good sized storm came through and lasted into Friday.  By the time all was said and done, we had about 12 more inches of snow and a fresh coat of freezing rain that glistened over everything.

The sunsets on these stormy days have been so, so pretty.

Despite the freezing cold, I took to Sunset Meadows with my camera in tow.

Just as we got cleaned up from that storm, another came in on Saturday and dropped several inches of more snow. This time, wet and sticky............

............making for a winter wonderland of sorts.

I was hoping to get pictures yesterday of all the trees covered in snow, but the wind picked up and blew everything off by morning.

And so it goes.

This week, as always, lots of design projects on my plate - revision rounds on some projects as well as new designs.  I worked on some over the weekend as well to get a head start on the white board list (did I tell you about the white board yet? G bought it for me and I have to say it is working out rather well so far).  I'll also be starting to pull together plans for the next muse online magazine, so be sure to stay tuned. I hope to have even more great content and readership this time around, after such a fantastically positive response to the inaugural issue.  Once again there will be advertising opportunities, which I hope give my sponsors, the chance to reach new people.

What's in the works for you?

What Inspires You Wednesday

Snow In Winter

There is something quite magical about how the landscape can change in the matter of hours in the Winter.  Yesterday, sunny blue skies and a field nearly bare of its Winter coat.  Today, snow falling fast, yet sofly. The world muffled and silent except for the sound of fine snow hitting what has already been laid on the ground.

It's quite peaceful.

There is something to take away from it, especially on a very busy day.

Stop.

Breathe.

Be mindful of what you are working on at that moment.

Keep your thoughts quiet so you can give full attention to what lays before you.

What is inspiring you today?

Take A Walk With Us: A Most Beautiful Snowfall

The Weathermen Missed This One

Who knew we were supposed to get a measurable snowfall on Saturday? Not I. Not the weathermen either.  They didn't see this one coming at all.

It started out with big honkin' flakes. I'm talking huge.  The kind that usually only last for about 15 minutes before changing to smaller, finer snow. Well, Saturday's snow had something else in mind. The huge flakes continued coming down for about 4 hours and never really changed.  It was also  wet, which if you live anywhere you get snow, means it sticks. It sticks to everything. Every branch of every tree and then some, making for the most glorious of winter wonderlands.

I headed over to the the sunset meadows field with camera in tow, in the midst of the snow. It was quiet. The world was silently muffled by snow.

By the time it was all said and done we had 7 inches or so (give or take an inch).  I think the forecast had called for a trace dusting, if even that.  I, for one, was glad they were wrong.  This snow was exactly what I love about winter. There was no denying the beauty.

The next day everything was covered in a fresh coat of white.  Absolutely breathtaking.

I hope that your weekend was just as beautiful.

On this MLK Day, let's remember the biggest and most important lesson that Dr. King taught was to love our fellow man.

"I have decided to stick to love… Hate is too great a burden to bear."
~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Enjoy the day all that is around you.

Take A Walk With Us: Almost Spring Like

Melting Ice And Snow

As it often does, nature is inspiring me today. It just plain makes me feel good to get out into nature.

Though there was frost this morning, it's quickly been warming up.  Just the oddest temperature swings this winter.  Highs and lows like you can't imagine. There may be snow in the forecast this weekend, but this morning my walking partner Lucan and I got out for a stretch of the legs.

The 'January Thaw' was apparent as we stepped out the door- to the left the rose bush.........

....to the right, the holly.

Then we were off the field.

I'm thinking we may have to take a little jaunt later.

The weather alone makes me feel like I can tackle all that I need to today. Does the weather have that kind of effect on you? That and the fact that I got one design project done yesterday, I didn't have to cook dinner (G did) which was good because I was at my desk late, and all of your nice comments.

Have you gotten out even for a short walk lately? City or country? Did your mind feel clearer afterwards? Mine sure does.

We may have to take another short walk later, but for now I am inspired to get creating. Starting a fun logo design project today. I know it will make me smile because it is going to incorporate a pooch!

Oh, one more thing............what's inspiring you today?

Onto the tasks at hand mes amis.

Take A Walk With Us: Winter

Around The Neighborhood

Put our walking shoes on and hit the road. Still quite cold and there is a good breeze, but the sun is shining and the sky is blue.  Bundle up and put one foot in front of the other.  We breathed in some fresh air and all was right with the world.

I love the way the sun illuminates the fur on the sumac branches.

Ah. Ready to get things done.

It was nice to get out and get some air. Although Monday was warm amidst the subzero arctic freeze, which was quite bizarre, I didn't get a chance to enjoy it so today's quick walk perfectly wonderful.

Have you had a chance to get out in nature and enjoy the season? I haven't quite as much as I'd like. I'm hoping to rectify that.

Ciao for now,
