Color Palette: Take A Cue From Nature

Green Is The Word

After I was finished at my desk yesterday, I popped over to my neighbor Joan and Tom's for a paint consultation.

Joanie had some pictures of greens she liked, but wanted a second opinion on colors and combinations for doing an accent wall.

They're considering doing the lighter end of the green spectrum, but that still leaves lots of choices. We talked last night about using another color, purple shades, as accents in the room on pillows and such.

I explored that spectrum on etsy this morning and created a treasury featuring some favorites that fall into those shades.

I also took Lucan for a walk this morning and gather bits and pieces that spoke to those colors.

Lichen, grass, fern, wild olive, milkweed pod, wild aster.........a lot caught my eye.

The great thing is you can play off those light shades of green with a lot of different colors. You can make them more neutral if you pair with grays or browns. The possibilities are endless.

It's a beautiful day here, though it did get quit cool and windy last night. It's not what I'd call warm, but the sun is shining against a clear blue sky. It works for me.

Finalized one logo design yesterday and started on another that is going very well already. Looking forward to designing more today.

What's on your plate?

Ciao for now,

Not Going Quietly

Who Cares What the Calendar Says?

Ah Spring! The birds are chirping, the flowers are popping the sun is out, the windows are open. Wait. Not so fast.

Winter is not quite ready to release it's grip. We had a slow start to the season, and it's not a record breaker, but have most definitely had a good bit of snow.

This storm was a slower moved that seem to stall right above us.  The snow was heavy. Then it got even heavier and wetter in the afternoon, clinging to utility lines and trees.  My parents and sisters in Hampton lost power. We never did.

On the evening news they said Stratham got 8 inches. I said to Gar, "I don't think so, there was about 8 inches when you left this morning." Out he went with the ruler. 13.

The thing is, it didn't stop. It kept going and going. I'd say we ended up with a good 15 if not better. And just when you could see the grass.

Ah well. These are the things that happen with the weather no matter where you live. You can't control it.

So although I'm not hopeful that this is the last hurrah (looks like another storm on the horizon), it might be the last snow that sticks to all the trees making things look oh so pretty.

Enjoy another glimpse of Winter before you're headlong into Springing up your flower beds.

It was almost eerie this morning, before dawn broke. Everything covered in white, and all quiet.

Then the sun came up.

If there is a biggo space between the last picture and this paragraph. So sorry. Tried and tried again to delete it but no go.

So, suffice it to say, Winter just ain't ready to go yet and there's not a darn thing we can do about it.  Did you get snow yesterday, or is Spring really starting to pop where you are?

By the way, I'm so behind in responding to your lovely comments, but know that I always read them.  I'll catch up soon. Promise.

Enjoy the day. Spring will soon be on it's way. Honestly, it can't snow in June, right?

Damn. I shouldn't have said that.

Ciao for now,

101 Ways To Wear White

It's Snowing Again

Houston, we have a problem.

Tomorrow is the first day of Spring here which is all well and good, except for one little detail. Winter isn't ready to give up the ghost. The promise of snowdrops is still just that, a promise. They may be blooming, but we wouldn't know because just when the snow was starting to melt from the last 3-round-punch of snow storms, all is covered anew.

It's snowing at a good clip and I'd say we have close to a foot already and supposed to continue throughout the day. It's looking like we might get more than they predicted.

I'm not mad. I mean, sure I'm ready for Spring weather, but before long we'll be in the midst of Summer heat longing for cool days.

For now, I'll just enjoy it.  The fire is cranking and I'm working at the desk and I have a nice view of the snowfall from inside our snug little cottage. Things could be worse.

I think I forgot to tell you, Lucan turned 14 on St. Patrick's Day. He loves the snow.  Sometimes. Wink. Wink. This morning it was pretty deep which made it a little challenging for him to get around, but he made do.

"Who are you calling 14?"

Enjoy the day. No matter how old you are and no matter what the weather is like. Because today, is a good day to have.

Ciao for now,

PS- can you believe there are still some oak and ash leaves clinging to trees after the wild and wooly Winter we've had? Talk about not letting go.......
