Taking Part

Jumping In: Elle Moss 21 Day Photography Challenge

Do you remember me telling you about the fabulous Mother's Day Giveaway that my etsy friend Elle Moss was having on her blog, diaryofamodhousewife? And that my Grow Love print is just one part of this over the top giveaway?  It makes me smile to be in such good company. Look at all this great stuff!

Well, apparently hosting this super giveaway wasn't enough for Elle. She has begun the 21 Day Photo Challenge on her blog. Today is day three. You can jump in anytime and participate as time allows. I love this challenge already and I haven't even submitted an entry in the challenge yet!  I missed days one and two, but in a round about way, Kathy from DoubleKnickelsandBeyond led me to it so I can participate in day three.

Today's theme is 'little things'.

These champagne corks sit on the bookshelf next to my desk. Remnants of bookclub/champagne ladies, and mine and Gar's annual Christmas morning toast I believe.  I do love Champagne. The bubbles tickle my nose and it makes me giddy.

See that one in the front.............the Gloria Ferrer? LOVE it. One of my favorites. If you like dry, you must get some.

In our game cabinet we have remnants of an old Parcheesi game. Oh how many hours I spent playing Parcheesi. The playing pieces are actually wood. Yup, it's that old.

In addition to my little champagne cork collection, I also collect feathers that I find on my walks. I love these two because they're tiny and they have polkadots. What's not to love?

Decisions, decisions. Which to include in Day 3 of Elle's challenge? I think the feathers.

Kathy decided way before me. Check out her lovely pins.  I love the dark background, the pink fabric and the pretty little pearls atop the pins. Nice one Kath!

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and join the fun at Elle's place.  Elle posts entries to each day's challenge on her home page if you want to have a look.

Not So Little

While I was taking pictures, Gar said, "Look, there's a hawk in the tree!" To which I exclaimed, "where? where?". He was right at the bottom of our apple tree.

Big beautiful bird.

Probably a Coopers Hawk.  He sat like that for a few minutes, then hopped on over to the wheelbarrow. I couldn't resist trying to get another picture of him and was eeking the door open bit by bit, but it failed. He flew the coop.

Hope your day is full of good stuff.  I am juggling a few things today including shipping off another Grow Love print to Ontario.  It's packed and ready to go when I head to Exeter for a meeting.  Have a wonderful Wednesday in your corner of the world.

Ciao for now,

PS- I love Elle's giveaway idea AND photo challenge so much, I may have tweak it a bit and do my own versions! Go Elle Go!  By the way, if you participate in Elle's photo challenge, feel free to leave a link to any of your entries in your comments here on the Muse.

Inspired Design: Geometry and A MegaGiveaway

The One Math I Didn't Hate

Yup. You guessed it. Though the signs weren't obvious, you figured out that I am not a big fan of math. However, thanks to my high school math teacher Mr. Bennet, who allowed me to take Geometry though I had not scored high enough in his algebra class, I found out I was good at some math. Pretty darn good in fact.  I'm sure I've mentioned some of this before, but here it goes again....you see, to enter Geometry in my high school you were supposed to average at least a C in algebra as a prerequisite. Unfortunately, though I stayed for extra help just about every day, and though my engineer father tried to tutor me, my head couldn't wrap itself around algebra. Luckily though, thanks to my begging and my teacher's ability to ignore the signs and give me a chance, me and Mr. Bennet found out that I rocked geometry. High Bs and As rocked. Not bad for a girl who passed algebra by the skin of her teeth. I think it was something about being able to 'prove' things instead of just accept that x+y=z.

Though I haven't had to do any geometric equations or proofs since high school, I do still have an appreciation for geometry, especially in design.

It makes me happy to see a resurgence in geometric patterns and shapes, since they are a constant on my inspiration board and in my idea file. I'm guess I'm glad I'm not alone.

MegaGiveaway on Diary of A Mod Housewife
Last week, I was contacted by one of my favorite etsy photographers (which is saying a lot because there are a lot of fantastic photographers on etsy), Elle Moss, who wondered if I'd like to take part in a Mother's Day giveaway on her blog Diary of a Mod Housewife (don't you love that blog title?).  She also had some very lovely things to say about my work. Caution: Aside..........Have you ever had that happen? You find out that someone whose work you admire, admires yours? Very cool. Well anyways, back to the giveaway....did I want to participate? H to the e to the double l yes.  So this totally awesome bombastic giveaway includes my Grow Love print!

When I tell you that you must check out Elle's giveaway, what I really mean is drop everything, get over to elle's because you will not believe the fabulous stuff she's collected for this Mother's Day Mega Giveaway.
