When Nothing Makes Sense

Spread The Love

When tragic events like yesterday's Boston Marathon terrorist bombing take place, it really makes you wonder. It makes me wonder how there can be so much hate in the world. I just can't wrap my head around it. There is no answer that makes any of it easier to understand.

My heart aches for the people whose lives have been transformed in a most tragic and unfathomable way.

I don't like to focus too much on those responsible (and whether it is a single person or a group is insignificant to me.....the intent is the same....to terrorize).  It feels as if we concentrate on the responsible party too much it gives them more of our energy than they deserve. I'll leave that up to law enforcement who I trust will do their best to find the perpertrator or perpertrators of this act against humanity. Yes, not against the individuals who suffered, not against Boston, not against the United States.....against humanity. This could have been in any city, in any corner of our earth.

It is times like these that tend to make us feel helpless, but we're not. Look at the people who sprung into action to help the wounded yesterday.......police, firefighters, national guard, medical professionals, marathon volunteers, and the most inspiring........fellow marathon attendees and participants, doing what they could to help.

We can each make a difference. Even if it's on a small scale. Let's choose to spread the love. It is the only thing that will ever really make a difference.  The kind of difference we'd all like to see.

I couldn't think of a more appropriate way of rejecting the hate, than by giving away my print 'Grow Love'.

This isn't about having to share my page, it's not about having to tweet this contest, it's not about having to pin the picture. If you feel like doing that to involve more people in spreading the love, great. However, it's not necessary.  It's simply about me, spreading the love in a very small, doable way. About making someone else's day a little brighter and thus rejecting the hate of yesterday's cowardly act.

All you have to do is leave a comment below this post and you're entered. It's that simple.  A winner will be announced on Friday, so be sure to comment before Friday morning (7am est.)

I'll also be giving the same print away on our facebook page, and if you want to enter here and there, feel free.

All I ask is that you take a moment to consider how you can reject the hate and spread a little love. If you decide to spread the love in your own way, I'd love to hear about it.

My heart is filled with sadness for those whose lives where changed forever by such a dispicable act of hate. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you peace,

  1. Hi! Sadly, in my country, we have had terrorism for many years, so we know how you feel. Sending you love and hugs from Barcelona.

    1. I know Marta, your country has certainly had it's share. Who knows who is responsible....like I said, it doesn't really matter because the intent is the same.

It's so sad that people, no matter what their issues, choose to mame and kill others. It's just so hard to understand.

    1. it's hard to put into words what people have experienced and how i feel about it. hard because it's so hard to understand. but in the end, i think they only way to fight attrocities like the bombing is to do the complete opposite and try to do something good. even if it's something little.

    1. maybe i'll figure out a bigger way to do more, but at least it's something that will make one person happy. and that's a good thing.

  5. I like all of the comments/posts/articles floating around the web today about spreading positivity instead of dwelling on hate and anger. I know you said we didn't have to promote this, but I'm pinning it anyway. :-)

    1. that's the thing with such events......they are horrific but they never cease to create a wave of people who are want to do something good. thanks for sharing paige. the more people we can get thinking about doing 'one little positive thing' is great.

  6. It's hard to wrap your brain around such hate and violence, but everyone can understand love. And even though you may think giving away your print is a small thing. It isn't. Because Love is never small.

  7. I am so saddened by what happened on Monday. I live in Cambridge, just one city over from Boston, and many years I have enjoyed watching the Boston Marathon from my friends' apartment a few miles before the finish line. It breaks my heart the senseless death and injuries it has caused, and the pain for so many people, not just here, but around the world. I too am trying to focus on the wonderful things people have done in response; I have truly been in awe of how selflessly and generously people have responded after this terrible tragedy.

    1. It is indeed heart breaking Bev. I know you're in Cambridge and I'm sure this hit so close to home for you and so many others. So senseless that we'll never ever make sense of it. People have been amazing. I still can't get over the people who lept into action though they themselves were in the midst of trauma, and attended to the injured and dying. We're so lucky many more didn't die and can only hope and pray that no others do from their injuries. The resilience and good of people is always at the forefront after events like these and for that I am grateful.
